
ENTRIES FOR DUBAI LYNX 2010 ARE NOW CLOSED
Winners will be revealed at the Lynx Awards Ceremony on March 17.
The following guidelines were posed to help you to complete your entry successfully.
Preparation for Entering:
Read through the Rules and Categories for the entry section you are planning to enter in. Dubai Lynx Entry Sections are: Print, Outdoor, TV/Cinema, Radio, Interactive, Direct & Sales Promotion, Media, Integrated and Craft.
Read the Tips For Entering for each section which will give you useful information about making the best possible entry.
Check material requirements for each entry section as you will need to prepare either/or files to upload or materials to send.
Create a Dubai Lynx Account:
Register for a Dubai Lynx account.
Complete the details in the form and click Submit.
A password will be sent to you by email.
Submit Entry:
Make sure you have as much information about the entry e.g. title, advertiser, credits, compulsory questions etc. as possible BEFORE starting the entry process.
Use your password to login to the entry system.
Select the type of entry you would like to make from the dropdown list.
Complete the entry form. Some entry types require you to complete more than one page.
You can upload your entry media online. Please make sure your files conform to our media requirements.
You can save incomplete entries at any stage and can choose to complete them later.
However, For the entry to be submitted successfully into Dubai Lynx you MUST eventually proceed through checkout and payment.
Once you have completed all your entry forms and uploaded the media if applicable, then you can proceed to payment by clicking the Make Payment button. NB You can make more than one entry before paying, you do not need to pay for each entry one by one.
Payment:
You can choose to pay by credit card or bank transfer.
If you choose to pay by credit card, you need to enter your card details and the payment will be processed through our system.
Once your payment is successful you will see a confirmation page and we will send you an email containing your entry forms.
If you choose to pay by bank transfer please enter your invoice details carefully. After submitting your information successfully, you will see a confirmation page and we will send you an email containing your entry forms and a proforma invoice.
You must make the bank payment AS SOON AS you receive your email confirmation using the bank details provided. Please email or fax us a copy of the bank transfer confirmation.
Your payment MUST arrive in our offices as soon as possible otherwise your entries will not be processed.
Material:
If your entry requires you to send us any material, please check the material requirements before sending anything to our office.
Make sure all material adheres to our specifications and sizes. We can’t accept files or boards in the wrong formats or dimensions.
Please use the labels provided in the entry forms that you receive with your confirmation email.
Please send your materials in good time before the closing date.
Summary Material Requirements
Film: Max. length: 180 secs
Data CD/DVD entries should be supplied as follows:
• You must submit an mpeg2 OR H264 QuickTime file for each film you are entering into the Festival. See the File Option/Specifications chart below for further information.
• You are strongly advised to dub or subtitle entries in English so that they can be more easily understood by the jury and participants.

• No slates, clocks or freezes can be included in your encode.
We strongly advise dubbing or subtitling entries in English.
Print/Outdoor: For each entry:
One digital image: Jpeg, 300 dpi, RGB, longest side approx. 420mm, on PC compatible CD-ROM, each image named with entry title. This can be uploaded online.
One mounted proof: 1 appropriate mounted proof or photograph of the actual poster site. This will be used, if the ad is shortlisted, in the Print/Outdoor exhibitions. It should measure approximately 60 cm x 40 cm and be mounted on black lightweight card with a copy of the entry form on the back.
For Outdoor: You may wish to provide a short, basic Audiovisual presentation to support some Ambient entries. This should NOT be the same as an AVP for Media/Promo etc. It should be about the creative element ONLY.
Radio: Max length: 180 secs. For each entry:
One MP3: Bit rate min. 96 kbps, Compression ratio 15:1, max. size 2.5 MB.
MUST be in the original language of the ad – if not English, we suggest they submit an English version (must be EXACT translation, actors of same gender, etc on SEPARATE MP3).
Upload MP3s to entry site or send PC compatible CD-ROM with files labelled with entry titles (include all entries on one CD).
Submit FULL AND ACCURATE transcript of ad (and translated version) online or in Word doc on CD-ROM.
Interactive: For each entry:
Submit one URL leading viewer straight to entry.
Your entry must be accessible without login or password.
NO agency branding or reference to contributors allowed anywhere within entry.
NO physical material – we cannot accept video clips on CDs.
Entries will be cached and archived on 2 March 2010; site must not be altered after this date.
Direct: For each entry:
1. COMPULSORY MATERIAL: PRESENTATION BOARD in DIGITAL FORM (Jpeg, 300 dpi, RGB, longest side approx. 420mm, on PC compatible CD-Rom; this can be uploaded online) AND A HARD COPY of the presentation board to be sent to the festival office (A2, approx. 60 x 40cms, mounted on lightweight black card). MUST be contained on one page – to include key visuals and a summary in English of the written part of the entry (max. 100 words). Do not include category code, agency branding or names of contributors.
2.SUPPORTING MATERIALS: Mailing entries: 1 x copy of the actual mailing piece; DR Publications/Print: 1 proof or copy of the newspaper, magazine or insert; DR Media/TV: supply 1 MPEG2 of the spot (no longer than 3 mins) on a DVD or PC compatible CD-Rom; Alternative Media: 1 copy of the actual sample, video or photographs; Radio entries: MP3 files (Bit rate 64 kbps, Compression ratio 22:1) on PC-compatible CD-Rom; Interactive entries: supply a URL.
Non-English entries should be translated, or accompanied by a full English translation.
Image specs: Jpegs, 300 dpi, RGB, longest side 420mm on CD-Rom OR hard copy original publication, proofs or photos, max. size 64 x 48cms.
Packaging and display materials: send actual packaging piece or display or photographs.
AVP: MPEG2 file on a PC compatible Data CD/DVD (Audio & Video as one file, encoded as Pal 25fps, Frame Size 720 x 576, data rate max. 8mb/s). 1) Long version: 3 minutes maximum: to include key visuals & English commentary 2) Short version: 45-60 seconds: to be shown at the awards ceremony if you win.
Promo: For each entry:

SUPPORTING MATERIALS: Best use of television/cinema: 1 MPEG2 of the spot(s) on PC compatible Data CD/DVD. or Beta SP Pal tape; Best use of magazines/newspapers: supply actual magazines / newspapers with the ad(s); Best use of outdoor: supply ad proof(s) / photo(s) of the ad(s) in-situ, max. 64 x 48 cms; Special events/stunts: supply photographs of the events or stunts; Best use of Internet: supply URL(s), accessible by 2 March and until 21 December; Best use of Mixed Media: supply any of the above as appropriate.
