The winner will be announced at the Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity on Tuesday 10 March 2020.
Shortlisted entrants must ensure they are free to attend the Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity on Monday 9 March to deliver a five- minute presentation live to the jury and attendees of the festival. The organisers will advise the shortlist on the exact timing for the session one week prior to the festival.
Shortlisted entrants must be available to attend the festival Tuesday 10 March for the winner announcement.
Entry is open to professionals working in agencies (creative, media, production, PR, digital, content, experiential, events or any agency within the creative sector) or as freelancers in the MENA region.
Entries will be accepted on the basis that they are created by individuals in the MENA region
For the purpose of Dubai Lynx, the MENA region is classed as: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Kenya, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Tunisia, UAE, Westbank & Gaza, Western Sahara, Yemen.
Entry is not open to employees of government or state entities, including employees of private businesses partially or wholly owned by the state.
Entry can be as individual or team up to three people (entries are based on individuals or team and not on behalf of your agency).
The competition is open to MENA residents only, excluding employees of Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity and Motivate Media Group and its partners
Entrants must be 18 years old or over.
The organiser, that being Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity under Motivate Media Group, has the final decision regarding the competition winner and no correspondence will be entered into.
Snap Inc. (“Snap”) is the competition sponsor and prize provider. The competition prizes are as stated and are not transferable. No cash substitute can be provided. Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity under Motivate Media Group will not be held responsible for the prizes or any loss or damage suffered by the winner in connection with redeeming the prize.
Entrants may submit no more than one entry per person or team.
Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity under Motivate Media Group reserves the right to alter, amend, or foreclose of the competition without prior notice.
By entering the competition, you warrant and represent that your competition entry:
is an original work, created solely by you and/or members of your competition team (if applicable);
does not infringe the intellectual property rights (including, without limitation, inventions, patents, copyright, designs, trade secrets, database rights, rights in know-how, rights protecting goodwill and reputation, moral rights or other similar rights in any country, in each case whether or not registered, and any applications for registration of any of the foregoing, and all rights to apply to register any of the foregoing) (collectively, the “IPR”) of any third party;
does not infringe the image rights of any third party, or any rights of privacy/publicity of any person or entity;
no other party, other than other listed members of your competition team (if applicable), has any right, title, claim, or interest in the competition entry or any IPR therein; and
You, together with your competition team (if applicable), have the necessary rights to grant the licence contemplated in this letter.
By entering this competition you hereby grant Snap and its affiliates an irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, sub-licensable licence to feature the whole or any part of your competition entry in any media: (i) during Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity 2020 on 9 March 2019; (ii) during the award night of Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity 2020 on 10 March 2020; (iii) on Snap and its affiliate’s websites worldwide; and (iv) in press or other sales/marketing decks worldwide.
By entering this competition you acknowledge and agree that:
Snap, its affiliates and/or persons authorised by Snap/its affiliates may use your name and image for the purposes of promoting the competition and/or Snap by all means, in any kind of medium and format and in any territory; and
In the event that your competition entry is discovered to not be an original creation and/or breaches a third party’s IPR, Snap shall be entitled to disqualify the entry from the competition.
Snap and its affiliates will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered by any winner or any other person in connection with the competition, or in the use of the Prize. You agree to indemnify Snap (and its officers, employees and agents) against, and hold the foregoing harmless from any damages, liabilities, losses, or expenses incurred or arising directly or indirectly out of your participation in the competition, your use or acceptance of any Prize, your breach of these terms, and/or any negligent or fraudulent act or omission in relation to the competition.
Entrants shall comply with the rules and regulations of local laws and shall observe Islamic traditions, customs as well as the general morals as instructed by Ministry of Information and Culture of United Arab Emirates.
How the Judging Works
Judging consists of viewing, voting, discussion and awarding of trophies. Judges consider and score each entry on a scale of one to five on whether they consider it a shortlist candidate. Dubai Lynx International Festival of Creativity will lead the shortlisting process.
The five shortlisted entries will be invited to present at the Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity on Monday 9 March for five minutes each. The jury will then meet to review and finalise the winning work.
The competition jury will be made up of industry leaders and the charity will select the winning work from the shortlist.
Judging will be based on 30% idea and craft, 30% answering of the brief, 40% use of the platform/ and technology.
The prize consists of:
A 4-day (3 night) trip to Los Angeles, California, staying in a 4-star hotel;
Return flights to Los Angeles (economy class);
Meet and greet with the marketing and/or creative team at Snap HQ; and
The showcasing of your competition entry during the Dubai Lynx Festival of Creativity 2020 Award night on 10 March 2020.
Snap and its affiliates will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered by any winner or any other person in connection with the Competition, or in the use of the Prize. You agree to indemnify Snap (and its officers, employees and agents) against, and hold the foregoing harmless from any damages, liabilities, losses, or expenses incurred or arising directly or indirectly out of your participation in the Competition, your use or acceptance of any Prize, your breach of these terms, and/or any negligent or fraudulent act or omission in relation to the Competition.
You acknowledge and agree that all travel and hotel arrangements will be coordinated through Snap’s travel agent in UAE and tickets for group bookings will be booked at once, the Prize cannot be transferred to another person(s), the Prize must be booked 2 months in advance of travel and must be used by 30 October 2020 and in the event that the Prize is not fulfilled by such date, Snap reserves the right to award the Prize to another entrant.
You acknowledge and agree that additional expenses and procedures associated with acceptance and use of the Prize are your sole responsibility. These include, without limitation, all federal, state, local, county, provincial, and other taxes (including income and withholding taxes), luggage fees, travel visa applications and fees, travel documents, insurance, meals, incidentals, in-room charges, telephone calls, beverages, gratuities, and any other costs, expenses and procedures.
You acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for determining and complying with all applicable international/domestic travel procedures and restrictions. This includes travel insurance, travel visas and documents to allow travel to/from any destination. Snap will not be held responsible for a winner’s travel visa. Snap is not responsible for any lost opportunity to travel to a particular destination if the winner or any of his or her travel companions (if any) is unable for any reason to enter a particular country, or the resulting costs of the winner needing to change his or her travel plans for any reason.
