Biography
‘Music can define and empower a brand, way beyond marketing’
Born in Amsterdam’s notorious Red Light District and raised on a steady diet of his writer father’s bebop and free jazz collection, Michiel Marsman is a wildly creative, experienced and multifaceted composer and executive creative director focused on film, television and commercial soundtracks.
As Executive Creative Director and partner in Sizzer, Michiel is aiming with Sizzer to become the most awarded music agency in the world.
Originally a conservatory-trained guitarist, Michiel turned a sonic journey through numerous bands and styles into a decade-long run composing music for film and advertising.
In 2009 he became partner and creative director at music agency Sizzer. Working together with brands and agencies to create music and sound concepts for moving images, they are the go-to partner for the most creative and ground-breaking musical stories being told. Sizzer works with people that make them happy, that dare to embrace the unknown and thrive on a bit of chaos where creativity flourishes. Sometimes these people work for brands like Heineken, Diesel, or Audi or creative agencies like BBH, Publicis, DDB, Jung von Matt, Heimat and Wieden+Kennedy. Under Michiel’s guidance, Sizzer won numerous music craft awards at Cannes Lions, Eurobest, London International Awards, The One Show, Ciclope, ADC, ADCN, Epica and more.
Michiel also composed music for several movies, including ‘Krazy House’ ‘Zee van Tijd’ and Dutch box office behemoth ‘Bon Bini Holland’.
